Announcement: CHORUS Internal Innovation Fund Launch

We’re really excited to hear from our early and mid-career researchers on their innovative ideas for new research projects to support the CHORUS pillars!

We have an amazing team of around 60 researchers across our partners in West Africa and South Asia, with skills, ideas and passion to improve the health services and systems for the poorest urban residents, and we’d like to explore these. We have launched an internal funding call, which aims to:

• Extend the knowledge in relation to the CHORUS four pillars
• Explore the pillars in relation to the groups of urban poor residents facing exclusion and discrimination
• Support early and mid career LMIC researchers to develop research and leadership skills, particularly encouraging leadership from female LMIC researchers
• Build and extend CHORUS links with emerging and new urban health organisations and stakeholders, including community organisations, local governments and health providers
• Support innovative ideas for research uptake and capacity strengthening interventions and their evaluation
• Strengthen cross-CHORUS working through combined research and mentoring

Our researchers are busy preparing the applications which will be reviewed by external experts against a set criteria, including

• Being led by early/mid-career LMIC researchers, with mentoring from a senior expert
• The potential to extend knowledge in relation to our CHORUS pillars
• The project taking a systems approach, including addressing multi-sectoral issues and the wider determinants of urban health
• The project exploring the pillars in relation to a group or groups of urban poor residents facing exclusion and discrimination
• Using appropriate research methods and its feasibility to be delivered within the timeframes and resources identified
